We're Moved in!!
That's the good news. The bad news is that our garage will not be equiped for animals for about 3 weeks yet.
We will not be accepting any animals until then. It will be undergoing a complete renovation, from garage to ultra small animal facility!
The good news is that we do still have hay available and grooming services available.
Except for hay sales, we are now closed until March 6!
7 more days till the big move!
All our guinea pigs have been placed, so there will be no adoptions, rescues, or boarding until March 6,
possibly even a bit later.
We do still have hay available for sale.
Sorry for any inconvenience, and we hope to see you at
the NEW Jiggley Piggley Farm location very soon!

No Boarding This Spring Break!
Due to the fact that our move will occur during spring break week, we will not be
taking in any boarders from February 26th - March 8th.
Also, we are not taking in any rescues from now till March 8th.
Other than that, it's business as usual!
Hay, grooming and boarding (except between the mentioned dates) are still available.
Sorry for any inconvenience, and we hope to see you at the NEW Jiggley Piggley Farm location very soon!

It's official, the Jiggley Piggley Farm is MOVING!!!!
We will be relocating to Valois in Pointe Claire, mid-February. The task of moving your average
household is daunting enough, but try throwing in a guinea pig farm into the mix!
All joking aside, it has been an unusually dry Christmas season, and moving in just eight weeks is a worry.
Several of our own guinea pigs had recently been returned to us, and 4 are already in foster homes.
The room designated for the guinea pigs in the new home is a bit of a wild card right now. There are a couple
of renovations, including proper heating, to be done in order for it to be up to Jiggley Piggley Farm standards.
It is the first time in 8 or 9 years of doing this that I feel I may be heading for an unmanageable situation.
I hear about rescues getting into trouble this way, and I always have done my best not toover extend myself.
It's pretty stressful to feel like maybe we're going to have some real trouble quite soon.
So, once again I appealling to our regular clientelle to please get the word out...we have many really nice pairs of
guinea pigs needing new homes, preferably permanent, but fosters are also very welcome.
Feel free to contact us at any time for further information... Contact us by email
or call 514-697-5718 or 514-386-0227

The Winds of Change are Upon Us!
Looks like some changes are in store, but we won't be going far!
It's business as usual at the Jiggley Piggley Farm for now, although to facilatate our relocation,
we won't be taking in any more guinea pigs until after our move. We DO HAVE MANY guinea pigs still needing new homes though, and we
will still be offering boarding, grooming and hay as usual!
So feel free to call...514-697-5718 or 386-0227

An unusual request from the Jiggley Piggley Farm...
Up until this point we have not used foster homes. We have kept our numbers low and kept all
our guinea pigs on site. The past week has produced several returns and a few unwanted guinea pigs,
including a pregnant female. Under the present circumstances I would really appreciate placing that
female, and possibly one more pair, into foster homes for a short time, while I attempt to place a few
other guinea pigs in permanent homes.
If you would be interested in housing a piggy or two for a short period of time, feel free to call

lounged in their outdoor run.
Doppy was around 7 years old.
Everyone at the Jiggley Piggley Farm, especially his constant companion Hoppy, will miss him alot!

Just in from the SPCA!!
Seven new squeekers arrived from the SPCA today.
A young mother and her three female babies, and an adorable trio of adult females.
Check the adoptables section for photos tomorrow!
Unfortunately the SPCA has several more guinea pigs looking for homes. We just couldn't fit them all
in here! There are a couple of male/male pairs, a daddy and his young male baby and several long hair
white guinea pigs. The white ones have not been handled much and are a bit shy, but it could be worked through
with some regular, gentle handling and really good hand-fed veggies!
Some of them may end up here in the following weeks, but the SPCA always welcomes visitors if anyone is
interested in them.

Miss Frizzle
Don't get any funny ideas! We don't take HAMSTERS!
But, Little Miss Frizzle is just so darn CUTE, how could I say no?
It happened that she turned up in the back yard of a Hudson home. After several attempts to place her,
they called us. I really would of said no, except that a couple of our Jiggley Piggley customers happen to
be BIG hamster lovers. A quick call to them and Miss Frizzle had a new home!
On that note.....

Not Every Photo Session is a Great Success!
Feeling the need to dump the Christmas pictures, I shot a couple of dozen photos in this session, and this is the best I could come up with!
Kinda cute, but not really what I want in an adoption photo.
Things don't always fall neatly into place when taking pictures of animals.

Who'd of thunk it!?
Papi and Niblet were both taken in as rescues. Quite to everyone's surprise, the degu and the rabbit

Fluffy M.
Little Fluffy M. is regular customer at the Jiggley Piggley Farm. He lost the use of his hind legs about 1and a half
years ago. He does retain some mobility, and with some effort, isable to move around his cage.
Fluffy is a real foodie and has never lost his vigorous appetite. As long as this continues, and he maintains a
healthy weight, it's pretty safe to assume that Fluffy feels pretty good, despite his limitations.
Luckily for him, Fluffy has a family that has decided to stick with him.
He is a long haired guinea pig, and due to his low mobility, requires frequent grooming to help him stay clean.
Loss of muscle tone in his hind quarters also results in anal impaction, and this needs to be cleared on a
regular basis. We take care of these needs for Fluffy, while his family keeps him well fed, and his cage extra clean,
which is vital to Fluffy's ability to stay as clean, and as dry, as possible.
I think it's important to point out that a decision regarding an animal like Fluffy could go both ways,
and niether path would be the wrong one, as long as the animal is not allowed to suffer unduly.
It's a personal decision, and Fluffy's family felt they could continue to meet his needs, as long as he was still able to enjoy
the guinea pig's greatest pleasure...EATING!!
One thing I must say though, many healthy, young guinea pigs are left here when children lose interest in them, and parents
do not want to continue caring for them. I think Fluffy's family is providing thier teenage daughter an invaluable
model of compassion, commitment and responsibility.

My too cute volunteers at the BEACONSFIELD PET FAIR & ANIMAL ADOPTION DAY
Unfortunately, it was too cold for the guinea pigs at the pet fair. They only stayed for about an hour, then we decided to
send them home. Our table did remain up and running, but with no guinea pigs, we didn't attract too much attention.
But, in the short time they were there, we found what we think will be the perfect home for Brian and Stewie! That
made the day well worth it.
